The play area is based on an array of nautical rowing themes that tell a story.
The playground is designed in natural timber with an array of contemporary wooden cladded structures to match the surrounding architecture.
Inspiration, Narrative and Prototypes
The play inspiration and research into a narrative helped to bring together some ideas to start sketching, using wooden cutlery to prototype the oar theme.

Final Concept
The play features include a boathouse and jetty with animal footprints to follow and run across, marshy reed stepping stones and balance beams. Children can climb up an ladder made of oars, slide down onto the riverbank, or through the tunnel and down the firepole, and across the wobbly rope bridge to look through the telescope.
